Job Description

Southampton Union Free School District is seeking a qualified probationary World Language Teacher who will design and deliver high-quality instruction in Spanish language, literature, and culture. The teaching assignment may include standard Spanish courses (levels varying based on department needs) and specialized International Spanish Academy (ISA) courses, which utilize content-based immersion strategies to develop high-level bilingual academic proficiency. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, rigorous lessons for standard Spanish and ISA immersion courses.

  • Integrate content-based instruction (e.g., history, culture, or literature taught in Spanish) aligned with ISA program guidelines and New York State standards.

  • Create an immersive, target-language environment, maintaining high expectations for student language production.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including heritage speakers, non-native paths, and students requiring specialized accommodations.

  • Develop formative and summative assessments that accurately measure student proficiency across the four core language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth and language acquisition.

  • Prepare students for relevant benchmark examinations, DELE diplomas, or Advanced Placement (AP) exams as applicable.

Job Qualifications

Applicants MUST hold a valid NYS certification - 7-12 Teaching Languages Other Than English (LOTE)
