Job Description

The Southampton Union Free School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Groundskeeper II.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and lead a team of grounds personnel in daily operations, including work assignments, training, and performance oversight
• Oversee and participate in lawn care activities such as mowing, seeding, fertilizing, aerating, and irrigation
• Supervise and assist with planting, pruning, trimming, and general maintenance of trees, shrubs, flowers, and landscaped areas
• Coordinate seasonal grounds activities, including leaf removal, snow and ice control, and athletic field preparation
• Oversee and apply fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides in accordance with safety regulations and best practices
• Operate and ensure proper maintenance of grounds equipment, including mowers, tractors, trimmers, and other power tools
•  Inspect district grounds regularly to ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors · Maintain athletic fields to support school programs and events
• Requisition supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for grounds operations
• Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, regulations, and district policies
• Assist with special projects, campus improvements, and event setup as needed
• Perform hands-on grounds maintenance work alongside staff as required

Job Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in grounds maintenance activities.
• Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license at the time of appointment and throughout employment
• Ability to operate motor vehicles and powered grounds equipment
