Job Description

Southampton Union Free School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Head Coach – Unified Basketball.

The Head Coach – Unified Basketball will provide leadership for the District's Unified Basketball program by fostering an inclusive, supportive, and positive environment for all student-athletes. The successful candidate will organize and supervise practices and competitions, promote sportsmanship and teamwork, ensure student safety, and oversee all aspects of the program in accordance with District policies and applicable interscholastic athletic regulations.

Position Details

Appointment Type: Annual Appointment
Location: Southampton High School
Salary: In accordance with the Southampton Teachers Association (STA) Agreement.

Responsibilities

• Organize and supervise all team practices and competitions.
• Teach the fundamentals, rules, and strategies of basketball while promoting skill development.
• Foster teamwork, inclusion, sportsmanship, and personal growth among student-athletes.
• Create a positive and supportive environment that encourages participation and success for all athletes.
• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all participants.
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, and the Athletic Department.
• Follow all District, Section XI, and New York State interscholastic athletic rules and regulations.
• Perform other coaching-related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the sport of basketball.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Previous coaching experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment.
• Current Southampton UFSD employees preferred.
