Southampton Union Free School District is seeking qualified internal applicants to serve as MBK Indigenous Mentors for the school year.

Positions Available: 3
Term: September 7, 2026 – June 30, 2027
Compensation: $2,500

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate meetings twice a month with the SHS or SIS Shinnecock MBK Mentoring Groups to implement the mentoring curriculum provided by the Shinnecock MBK Coordinator.
  • Attend mentor training facilitated by the Shinnecock MBK Coordinator.
  • Serve as a positive role model for the mentees and provide emotional support and guidance to help them navigate both school and life.
  • Encourage Academic Success by discussing grades, attendance, study habits and goal setting.
  • Help mentees develop life skills such as communication, leadership, problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution.
  • Create spaces where our young Shinnecock men feel seen, heard, and valued.
  • Help mentees celebrate cultural identity, strengthen self-worth, and confidence.
  • Attend field trips (college tours, leadership workshops, career exploration etc.).
  • Assist in facilitating Shinnecock MBK events.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • NYS Department of Education Fingerprint Clearance
  • Active relationships with Shinnecock MBK students & families is required

Basketball Bookkeeper070126-07

Southampton Union Free School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Basketball Bookkeeper.

The Basketball Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining the official scorebook during interscholastic basketball contests and ensuring the accurate recording of game statistics, fouls, timeouts, and other official game information. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with game officials, scorekeepers, timers, and athletic staff to support the efficient operation of home basketball contests.

Position Details

Appointment Type: Annual Appointment
Location: Southampton High School
Compensation: $103.00 per game, in accordance with the Southampton Teachers Association (STA) Agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the official scorebook for basketball games.
  • Accurately record player participation, scoring, fouls, timeouts, and other official game statistics.
  • Work closely with game officials, timekeepers, and athletic staff throughout contests.
  • Arrive prior to scheduled game time and remain until all scorekeeping responsibilities are complete.
  • Ensure game records are accurate and completed in accordance with applicable rules.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the rules and scoring procedures of basketball.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to remain focused and organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current Southampton UFSD employees preferred.

Note: Assignments are made based on the athletic schedule and District needs. Appointment does not guarantee a minimum number of assignments.
